cinematic installation

Our four-channel film installation Catastrophic Structures will be on view on the 22nd of March at V2_ in Rotterdam. 'Catastrophic Structures: listening to the hum of distant machinery' is the first presentation of Numina Gneisspecker's long-term audiovisual research into catastrophic structures and their immanent slow violence. For V2_, they've developed a new multi-channel audiovisual installation to draw 'attention to catastrophic acts that are low in instant spectacle but high in long-term effects' (Nixon). Come join us on this special occasion! More info can be found on V2_'s website.

tape

The unofficial soundtrack of our short film Ansage Ende has arrived! A RATIONAL WORLD is a beautiful tape with improvised music by Verena Barie, Gerri Jäger and Sjoerd Leijten, mixed with field recordings by Malu Peeters, Sjoerd Leijten and Stijn Verhoeff, combined with climate activist statements by Andreas Malm and other activists. It is a fierce, joyful and poetic call to arms in times of ecological collapse. You can see, listen to and buy it here!

trashkot

Sunday 8th of April, from 15.00h to 16.30h, I'll be making radio with Sjoerd Leijten at Radio Centraal, Antwerp.

Listen in and around Antwerp at 106.7 FM. Outside Antwerp you can listen via the stream: http://streaming.radiocentraal.org/

trashkot is a bi-weekly radio program by Jo Caimo and Sjoerd Leijten on Radio Centraal in Antwerp. A rancid tissue of sounds, conversations and thrash forms a shaky bridge between music and politics.

meeting the aleph*

...‘so now’, she said, ‘you must really start to tell me about yourself.’

About a month ago we witnessed the first re-appearance of the Aleph. We’re very happy to introduce our guests for the second event in this new series:

— artist Rosa Johanna;
— artist Rutger Emmelkamp;
— artist and writer Miek Zwamborn.

For those of you who hear about this initiative for the first time: between 2009 and 2011, Jasper Coppes and Roos van den Eerenbeemt organised a series of talks, readings, and presentations, usually hosted in the living rooms of friends, under the name Meeting the Aleph. We (Jasper and Roos, along with Phil Baber and Stijn Verhoeff) have decided to revive Meeting the Aleph, this time with our studio at KNSM-Laan 167 as the location. Our intention is to create a space where friends and acquaintances can share work, ideas, research, interests, etc., without the pressure associated with more formal or institutional settings.

The meeting will be held this coming Sunday the 17th of December. We will open at 12.30, and there will be some food and drinks. The presentations and discussions will start at 13.30 and end at around 16.00.

open call

socratic dialogues

Dear Friend,

after a summer full of inspiration and relaxation, we want to start the new year well by coming together again!

Some might be familiar with the format of the Socratic dialogues, for others it might be new. In any case, Wouter Klein Velderman will introduce and lead the dialogues. Don’t worry tough, you don’t need to be a philosopher at all.

We have two dates coming up: Sunday 27th of Augustus and Sunday 24th of September. Both days we come together at KNSM-laan 167 and start at 16.00 hours. The dialogues will take 2 to 3 hours.

Do you want to join? Please let us know (we have place for 10 people each date). Or do you know somebody who might be interested? Feel free to forward.

All the best,
Wouter and Stijn
